SRS Project Portfolio – Seismic Bracing

New Utah State Correctional Facility General Men’s Population

Seismic Restraint Systems, Inc. (SRS) is working as part of the construction team through Midgley-Huber, Inc. to provide seismic engineering on all mechanical and plumbing systems.

“This project is the largest detention project in the nation,” said Michael Ambre, assistant director of the Utah Department of Facilities Construction and Management. “Detention facilities are never a popular project to build, but because of the planning and long-term goals to reduce recidivism, this facility will have a massive impact on this state for generations to come.”

More than 200 people are working on the project, with multiple buildings under construction. The prison site is 1.3 million sq. ft. on 170 acres. Along with engineering, SRS has also been contracted to complete the installation of seismic restraint systems for the piping and mechanical equipment. Utah will be opening and transferring all inmates from the Draper prison facility to the new Salt Lake City prison facility. The prison will be located near the Salt Lake City International Airport and is set to open by June 2022.

SRS is headquartered in Salt Lake City and serves Utah and the surrounding Western States. Contact us to learn about our seismic bracing, vibration isolation products, and seismic restraint engineering services.
